Florida police ID Toronto couple found dead in townhouse

A Canadian couple found dead in a townhouse in Florida's Broward County community of Hallandale Beach has been identified as David Pichosky, 71, and Rochelle Wise, 66, both of Toronto.

Their bodies were discovered Thursday afternoon in the townhouse north of Miami.

?We have few details on how they were killed, but this is definitely a double homicide,? Capt. Sonia Quinones, a spokeswoman for Hallandale Beach police, told the Herald.

The couple was supposed to have lunch Wednesday with a neighbour, but didn't turn up.

Quinones said the same neighbour went to check on the couple Thursday afternoon and discovered the bodies.

The newspaper said the couple had been known to spend the winters in Florida.

Neighbours of the couple said Pichosky and Wise were recently married, CBC's Peter Akman reported from outside their apartment complex in North York.

Wise is a former vice-principal of Bialik Hebrew Day School in Toronto.

An official with Canada's Foreign Affairs Department said it had been in contact with local authorities and is providing consular assistance to family of the victims.
